Five Spice Pork Chops

one 4 ounce pork chop with mushroomsThis recipe can be multiplied and makes great leftovers.
Serve with Brown Rice and one of the following: Bok Choy Slaw or Asian Spiced Snap Peas or Ginger Snow Peas
Serve with Brown Rice or Jasmine Rice or Low Sodium Jasmine Rice

Serve with Asian Spiced Snap Peas or Bok Choy Slaw or Ginger Snow Peas
Ingredients
2 tsp. Low sodium soy sauce (or gluten-free tamari sauce) |
1 tsp.. Honey |
1 tsp. Rice Vinegar |
1 tsp. Sesame oil (dark sesame oil) |
2 tsp. Five Spice Powder |
8 ounces Boneless pork chops (2 4-ounce chops) |
1 to taste Black pepper |
2 tsp. Olive oil |
8 ounce Mushrooms, shiitake, raw (thinly sliced) |
1/3 cup Water |
Instructions
Place the pork chops in a ziplock bag with the marinade. Let marinate at least overnight.
When ready to cook place the olive oil in a medium skillet over medium heat. When hot add the mushrooms. Cook for about 10 minutes, stirring frequently, until browned. Move to one side of the skillet and add the pork chops to the pan.
Cover and cook for about 10 minutes.
Turn the pork chops, add the water and cook for about 5 minutes.
Remove the pork to a plate to rest for about two minutes. If the mushrooms are too dry add water 1 tablespoon at a time.
Serve the pork topped with the mushrooms.
Serve this recipe with one of these starch side dishes.
