Orange French Toast

Ingredients

1 large Egg(s)
2 tsp. Grand Marnier
1/2 tsp. Sugar
1 Tbsp 2% milk
1/4 tsp. Vanilla extract
1/4 cup Orange juice
1/4 tsp. Orange zest
4 ounce Sourdough bread (4 1-ounce slices)
4 tsp.. Unsalted butter (2 tsp. per serving)
2 Tbsp. Honey
1/2 tsp. Grand Marnier

Instructions

Place the egg, Grand Marnier, sugar, milk, vanilla extract, orange juice, and orange peel in a medium mixing bowl.

Whisk until well blended.

Heat a non-stick griddle over medium-high heat.

When the griddle is hot enough that a few drops of water will dance on the surface, reduce the heat to medium and place 4 slices of bread into the batter.

Gently dunk and turn the bread until it is well coated and slightly soaked.

Place the 4 slices of soaked bread on the griddle and cook for about 3 – 4 minutes.  Turn and cook on the other side.

Cook, turning occasionally, until both sides are golden brown.

Depending on your stove or griddle you may need to reduce the heat slightly.

Remove and top with the butter and orange honey.

Recipe Notes

French Toast itself isn’t all that bad for you and a great treat for Sunday morning brunch.  Enriched sauces, such as Orange Honey, can add different flavors to your pancakes or French toast.

"She was so wild that when she made French toast, she got her tongue caught in the toaster."

Rodney Dangerfield, Comedian
