My pastor is on Coumadin (warfarin). Can he eat black eyed peas? Yes, it’s a staple in the Southeast diet. I found black beans and other common peas on your guide – but not the black eyed peas. THANKS!!
Having grown up in the South I am not sure what I would do if I couldn't eat blackeyes. The USDA refers to these as cowpeas and they are in the legume family (making them terrific for the heart). There's about 100 calories in a half cup of cooked blackeyes and best of all there's very little Vitamin K.
Tell your pastor to enjoy them. Here's a recipe for a black eyed pea salad.
Thanks for writing.
