What Does the Ultraprocessed Score Mean?

Your ultraprocessed score is based on research by Dr. Carlos Monteiro and colleagues that separates ingredients and food products into one of 4 categories. This is known as the Nova classification and the most ultraprocessed foods are considered Nova Class 4.

Currently the application reports the percentage of Nova Class 4 versus Nova Class 1, Class 2 and Class 3 taken as a group. This is to help you understand the amounts of ultra-processed foods you are consuming. We are currently working on filters for the Nova Class 1, Class 2, and Class 3 to give you a clear picture of what you are eating.
