Black Bean Burgers

These hearty Black Bean Burgers make great leftovers and freeze well for a quick lunch or dinner.

Serve with French Fries

Black Bean Burgers

Ingredients

1 15 ounce can Canned no salt added black beans (drained and rinsed)
1/2 Large Red bell peppers (small diced)
1/2 medium White onions (small dice)
1/2 cup, shredded Reduced fat cheddar cheese
1 clove Garlic, raw (minced)
3 tsp.. Ground cumin
1 tsp., leaves Dried oregano
1/4 tsp. Salt
1 to taste Black pepper
1/8 tsp. Cayenne pepper
1 large Egg(s)
3/4 cup Whole Wheat Classic Style Breadcrumbs
1 spray Spray olive oil
6 roll Whole wheat hamburger buns (or gluten free)

Instructions

Gather all the ingredients and equipment.

Preheat oven to 375F.

Mash beans in a large bowl with a fork or potato masher.

Mix in red pepper, onion, cheese, garlic, seasonings, egg and breadcrumbs.

Mix well.

Shape into 6, 4 ounce patties.

Drain and rinse the black beans.

Line a baking sheet with foil and spray lightly with cooking spray.

Place burger patties in a single layer.

Cook in oven until burgers firm up and reach internal temperature of 165F, about 12 minutues.

Serve on a toasted whole wheat or gluten-free bun with lettuce, tomato, and other favorite condiment.
