Bean Paste, Red (Hot)

The Hot Bean Paste used in these recipes is not to be confused with Sweet Red Bean Paste. Hot Bean Paste is a Korean product made with fermented soybeans and powdered chilies. It is extremely hot for many people. Adding a little to your dish and then checking for seasoning is a must.

You can use almost any hot chili paste here – harissa is a good choice. Other Asian Chili Bean Pastes will vary in flavor and texture and should be added carefully to check for spiciness.
