I am on Warfarin, my INR range is 3.0-4.0. I would like to know exactly how much Vitamin K is in radish greens. I would appreciate any information you can give me.
We source our Vitamin K information from the USDA FoodData Central database, the gold standard for nutrition information worldwide. Unfortunately, radish greens do not appear in the database.
However, other greens do, and they tend to be very high in Vitamin K.
For one cup, chopped:
Beet greens: 152mcg
Chicory greens: 86.3mcg
Dandelion greens: 428mcg
Mustard greens: 144mcg
Turnip greens: 138mcg
Collard greens: 157mcg
Radishes themselves, however, have only 1.5mcg per cup (sliced).
I would recommend to all of my warfarin patients that they avoid consuming greens of this type - including radish greens.
While we don't know for sure that radish greens are also very high in Vitamin K, it would be unwise to take the risk.
Thanks for writing.
