Ingredient Information
Tahini
Tahini is the paste made from grinding sesame seeds. Think it of peanut butter made with sesame seeds instead of peanuts. It is used in middle and far eastern dishes most notably baba ganoush and hummus.
Like peanut butter, this counts as a fat. It is a moderate source of monounsaturated fat (about a third of the total fat is mono). Like other high fat ingredients use this sparingly, trying to add it to a recipe where it will enhance flavor and using something creamy like yogurt to add a rich mouthfeel.
